Read full reviewÄown in the bayou of Louisiana, all hell has broken loose in this second entry of the multiplayer zombie-fest. The missing 0.2 is due to the fact that there's no way to save unless you reach a safehouse. I do not recommend this game for the family, little children, easily impressionable teens, or anyone who is sqeamish about blood, gore, killing, or a zombie apocalypse. I highly recommend this game for anyone who enjoys first person shooters and has always wanted to work co-op, yet have a good opportunity to shoot many an enemy (unlike in Day of Defeat, Counter Strike, or Team Fortress, where you're restricted to only shooting the finite number of players available). The game works flawlessly with great graphics thus far (I've played mainly campaign and one session involving playing as the special infected). I am actually playing L4D2 on a MacBook using Bootcamp and Windows XP SP3 to take advantage of the graphics card.

It's important that you meet the system requirements for the game- if you can run the game on a 32 bit system, it is probably better, since it takes up less RAM while playing (1GB min. This aspect of gameplay makes for a more interesting set of decisions while going through the levels. Much of the fun is unlocking the achievements on Steam. and without the help of your teammates, you will certainly become incapacitated, and eventually die if not revived in time (again, stay very very close to your teammates). Co-operative play is strongly encouraged, if not essential- there are special infected that have the ability to grab, gorge, charge, spit, slice, or smash you to death. L4D2 is predominantly played online, where you can play differing modes (campaign, survivor, versus, and scavenge). Depending on what mode you're playing, you can win in different ways (for example, reaching the different safehouses, which completes a stage, and ultimately finishing a campaign by completing the tasks the game requires you to do to signal help or break through to escape).

So, about the actual game! L4D2 is mainly a multiplayer game in which you shoot hordes of zombies (called "infected") that come racing to find you and the other three survivors you're traveling with (the other three can either be PC-controlled, other Steam/LAN p layers, or, if you're willing to figure out split screen configs, two player on one PC w/ a Xbox 360 controller plugged in: ). Wikipedia offers a very comprehensive account of the game play, production, and history: - I will try to go over my experiences with L4D2 in summary. I went back there to play it a second time, and promptly bought a disk to play on Steam at home. My fiance's little brother introduced it to me when we visited an internet cafe, and without realizing it, we spent 4 hours playing the game. I don't play video games much due to work and school, but this game is just ridiculously addicting.
